WAVERTON BEES 2 - 2 PRINCES VILLA
Having been beaten 8-1 earlier in the season by this tough Princes Villa A team, the game was another test of our progress. The boys stood up to the task superbly with a battling display where individually our boys didn't shirk from a single challenge.
In the first quarter we pressurised the opposition really well with a fast start and a series of corners from Ben. From this Princes Villa put into their own net at the near post.
Unbelievably the game remained 1-0 until 5 minutes to go across 25 minutes of football which went end-to-end and was good to watch with both teams putting together decent passing moves and opportunities which had goal line clearances at both ends. One goal seemed to have a force-field around it!
With 5 minutes to go we had a small mix-up at the back and Princes Villa hit a scooped lob which George had no chance of reaching. Shortly afterwards Princes Villa scored again and we sensed from their supporters that usual service had been resumed!
Princes Villa though underestimated our new found resolve as the Bees poured forward and from a great Oliver pass Henry hit a guided left foot volley into the corner to get us back to 2-2 and bring some loud celebrations.
With seconds remaining Henry was brought down and we sensed a famous victory as Oliver stepped up and thundered one off the post in the games final play.
Well done to all the boys. Again everyone contributed brilliantly. MOTM went to Henry for his equaliser which is a contender for goal of the season.
