MATCH RPEORT - SAT 29 OCTOBER

BEES 5 - 12 SAUGHALL YOUTH

We came up against a good Saughall team with one very talented player who we struggled to get to grips with.

With only 7 available players and a few experienced players away we weren't as organised as usual and the boys found it hard to keep positions, shape....and sometimes concentration!! It didn't help that the ref was also coaching and we missed Chris on the line getting our orders out to the boys.

After a tentative start and going 0-1 down the boys started to put some moves together resulting in Samuel scoring with a good finish to the bottom right. However, over the course of the next 15 minutes the game was taken away from us with Saughall scoring 7 goals to end the second quarter 1-8 up!

In the third quarter they put their talented no.6 in goal and our Bees had a fantastic quarter with two more goals from Samuel and one from Ben after a great bit of skill. We won the quarter 3-1 which just emphasises the difference one player can make on these small pitches.

Going into the final quarter 4-9 down we had hoped to get further back into the match but Saughall scored more goals and our boys were giving them too much time and space and our tackles were not exactly strong! Ellis managed to score a consolation goal.

The lessons we can learn from the game is that we must always compete, tackle and run about with 100% effort. The score or result isn't important but the effort we make and trying our best is vital.

MOTM award is shared this week between Henry and Samuel. Samuel got another hat-trick, always tried his best, with some solid tackling. Henry was unbelievably unlucky not to get his first goal and never stopped running and trying.

Well done to all the boys. They all said they enjoyed the game which is the main thing.

MATCH REPORT - SAT 22 OCTOBER

BEES 6 - 3 HOPE FARM

It was our turn to score six this week as the boys put on a great team display to beat Hope Farm. The correct pitch size and goals helped for a good match.

The first quarter was pretty even with both teams going forward and shooting on sight. The Hope Farm goalie pulled off some brilliant saves and was very good at coming off his line to keep us out. At the other end Oliver made a wonderful save, clawing one out of the top corner to keep the score 0-0.

In the second quarter we switched things around a little and as we were getting used to our positions Hope Farm scored. At this point we brought Samuel back into the game, unaware of what was going to happen!! Hope Farm were suddenly struggling to keep reigns on Henry, Ben and Samuel and we were soon back in the game from a mazy run and finish from Samuel. 1-1 and GAME ON!

The next 15 minutes were dominated by Waverton and from a solid base we were able to score 5 more goals - 4 more from Samuel and a good finish from Ben. Our desire to win the ball and get forward in this period was great to see, against a big and physical side.

All the boys were brilliant today and we looked well organised from goal kicks, corners and throw-ins. The game was end to end and had it not been for the excellent Hope Farm goalie we could have had more. Christopher also pulled off some good stops in the final quarter.

Everyone was involved today and gave 100%, which is the main thing. We also put together some lovely passing moves. When Hope Farm threatened to get back into the match we dug in well with some hard tackles and solid clearances from Oliver B in particular.

MOTM went to Samuel for a high energy, battling performance and 5 goals. It was like Ian Rush V Everton!

Well done to all the boys.

MATCH REPORT - SAT 15 OCTOBER

ELTON YOUTH 6 - 1 BEES

The score line this morning doesn't really reflect how we played and the effort made by the boys. Even though the result went against us some of our play was good and we were unlucky at times with shots hitting the post or going straight at their keeper.

In the first quarter we started a little tentatively but weren't helped by having to adapt to 6-side, a very big pitch, tiny goals and knee length grass. Not quite the Christleton 4G we are used to!

We went in after the first quarter 2-0 down.

Going into the next quarter we made a couple of changes, bringing Thomas on to help Oliver at the back and with Ben, Henry, Christopher and later Rafa we dominated the second quarter and were really unlucky not to score. Ellis in goal complained he didn't get a touch, to which Chris and I replied that we were delighted!!! We held Elton to 0-0 in this quarter.

In the third quarter its fair to say we lost our shape for a period as Elton broke through on goal too often. Keeping the positions that the boys are asked to play is something we will work on at training. We were 5-0 down after the third quarter.

Going into the final 10 minutes we were able to regroup and to the boys credit we really gave Elton a good game. Henry and Ben both hit the post before Ellis gave us a deserved consolation goal which brought the days biggest cheer from our travelling support. The quarter ended 1-1 and the game 6-1.

The boys kept going right until the final whistle which was great to see. Our heads didn't drop at all. Man of the Match went to Henry who put 100% into everything he did; chasing, tackling and running at the Elton goal.

Thanks to parents for great support on a cold damp day.

MATCH REPORT - SAT 8 OCTOBER

BEES 1 - 6 ELLESMERE PORT

A tough morning for the boys with another four lads getting some game time against a robust and quick Ellesmere Port side.

We started really well competing and passing the ball nicely and went 1-0 up with Ben's fourth of the season. We looked quite comfortable, dangerous on the break and we finished the quarter ahead.

In the second quarter Ellesmere Port were more determined than us and broke up the play and ran quickly at us. Understandably some of the new lads took a little while to adjust to the pace and we went 3-1 down pretty quickly.

We made a couple of unforced errors which we can soon resolve at training......playing the ball across our own area isn't in the coaching manual!!

However, our effort levels and enthusiasm were high and the experience will do us good for weeks ahead.

In the third quarter we managed to get more of grip on the game and although we conceded one goal to put us 4-1 down, we did create chances and the match was evenly balanced.

In the final quarter we lost our way a little as the boys tired and lost a bit of heart. Overall the boys tried their best and got stuck in. Ellesmere scored a couple more to put a bit of gloss on their result.

Well done to all the boys. Good effort but a few things to work on...

MATCH REPORT - SAT 1 OCTOBER

ELLESMERE PORT JETS 3 - 5 WAVERTON BEES

An epic start to our league adventure this morning as our Bees recorded their first win in their first game. A 100% record!

The boys looked really organised and we held our positions brilliantly. On the attack we looked fast and some of the passing was beyond where Chris and I thought we'd be at this stage.

At the back we looked really solid and we did well to contain the Ellesmere Port no.12 who was big and strong.

We scored 5 great goals, the first two from Ben who got us back in the game at 1-1 at the end of the first quarter. He then put us ahead with a great run and finish.

In the second quarter we introduced our subs who all had an immediate impact. Samuel slammed home another goal to take us to 1-3 and then he scored again, shooting though a crowded area to put us 1-4 ahead!

In the 3rd and 4th quarters we competed really well with some super tackles. Ellesmere Port did put us under a bit more pressure, scoring twice but we were able to regroup and bring Oliver back on to steady the defence.

We always looked dangerous on the break and Ben was able to get free to score another goal for his hat-trick!

The boys did really well and they all said they had fun. We forgot to award the Man of the Match (MOTM) and had four contenders in Ben, Oliver, Henry & Samuel. The award goes to Ben for his hat-trick and all round effort.

Well done to all the boys and thanks to parents for great support.
